What Makes Miele Special?

We have chose five of the best Miele vacuums in order to compile our best Miele vacuum reviews.

Before we jump into the nitty-gritty, let us provide a more in-depth idea of what you can expect.

Considering the significant investment in acquiring a Miele vacuum for your home, let's skim through the main features - and drawbacks.

Here we list four of the most distinctive features of the best Miele vacuum cleaners:

Cylinder Range

While the company has made a name for itself with an extensive range of cylinder vacuums, they also manufacture top-quality upright and robotic vacuums.

In spite of the diversification in model types, cylinder vacuums dominate the range of vacuums that Miele provides.

Price

Miele vacuums come with an array of top-end features that would make even the most tech-savvy Aussie consumer swoon in delight!

With technology that can morph for different floor types, smart tech and superior suction power, Miele vacuums may be worth the price.

However, the investment may be a little too much for most middle-income Australian homes!

At Vacuumit, we do believe that these vacuums are excellent value for your money!

Filtration System

Miele has a distinctive filtration system in most of their vacuums, although they do use HEPA filters in some models.

With the "AirClean" system, the filter apparently takes away 99.9% of all dust particles in your home environment.

The excellent quality of Miele’s filtration system will help to retain dust and make your home ideal for allergy sufferers.

Bagged

Miele does have its own bagless offering such as the CX1 model series.

Predominantly, however, the best Miele vacuums are of the bagged variety.

The apparent benefits of a bagged vacuum are that you can safely dispose of bagged dust without reintroducing them to the environment at your home.

The drawbacks are that you incur an ongoing expense for operating a Miele vacuum by buying replacement bags.

Replacement bags don’t help with pollution control.

While biodegradable vacuum bags are making an entry into the market, they are not widespread enough.

Best Miele Vacuums Australia

Best Miele Pet Vacuum: Miele Complete C3 Cat & Dog

Top Pet Vacuum Cleaner

Miele Complete C3 Cat & Dog

One of the best pet vacuums in Australia, this cylinder vacuum has excellent filtration, adjustable suction power and a massive dust bag.

The Miele Complete C3 Cat and Dog also makes it to our list of the best vacuums in Australia - and a for good reason.

Put simply, this cylinder vacuum is one of the best pet vacuums your money can buy in Australia.

Coming with a state-of-the-art control panel, you can control the suction power of your vacuum head.

More suction power means you can dislodge even the most deeply-stuck pet hair from your shaggy rags.

The filtration system in this vacuum is so good, and the Active AirClean technology can drive odours from your carpet effectively.

You don’t have to worry about emptying the bag too often as the 4.5-litre bag for dust will allow you to get a ton of cleaning done!

The Complete C3 thinks about practically everything - the accessories with the vacuum is a testament to that.

You will receive a crevice nozzle for your car seats or staircases.

There is also an upholstery nozzle for your plush sofa as well as a dusting brush for your floorboards.

Although we think the Complete C3 is the best pet vacuum Miele has to offer, check to see if the Miele Blizzard CX1 Cat and Dog vacuum is a better fit.

If your budget is limited, consider the Complete C2 Cat and Dog, the previous version.

As a cylindrical vacuum, this is not a light vacuum by any measure and could be a complication to lug around for senior citizens.

We also found that the Complete C3 didn’t do too well against large debris.

  • Bagged Vacuum
  • Powerful suction
  • Adjustable Power
  • Ideal for Pets
  • Heavy to carry at 8.8 kgs
  • Replacement bags expense
  • Struggles to pick up large debris

Best Miele Bagless Vacuum: Miele Blizzard CX1 Multi Floor

Best Bagless Vacuum Cleaner

Miele Blizzard CX1

Miele Blizzard CX1 Multi Floor

With one of the best suction we have seen, this dynamic bagless vacuum from Miele has top-notch HEPA filtration.

Miele went a little against their usual trajectory of bagged vacuums with the Blizzard CX1.

If you think that a bagless vacuum would be a better fit for your home - you could be right!

Bagless vacuums require no running costs for replacement bags which also mean you aren’t unnecessarily polluting our planet!

The best features of the Blizzard CX1 Multi Floor are an amazing filtration system and suction.

The suction power was so good, that in our tests the vacuum did admirably against larger debris on hard surfaces - which isn’t easy!

The vacuum is one of the best we have tested on floorboards and porcelain tiles.

Our only complaint with the cleaning performance is that delicate pet fur is not sucked up at a rate comparable to the Miele Complete C3.

If you are really keen on the Blizzard CX1 range of Miele vacuums and have pets at home, we would recommend that you take a look at their Blizzard CX1 Cat and Dog model.

Unlike most Miele vacuums, this vacuum makes use of a HEPA filter instead of the AirClean filter system.

HEPA filters are ideal for homes with residents that have breathing difficulties or severe allergies.

Another great feature of the CX1 Multi Floor is the ComfortClean mechanism, where the dust filter is automatically cleaned in about 20 seconds flat!

A bone to pick with Miele is that the dust canister capacity is annoyingly just around 2 litres.

At over 8.5 kilos, this cylinder vacuum is not light by any measure!

The power cord is sufficiently long at 7.5 metres.

With carefully crafted Vortex technology providing unreal suction power, we reckon the CX1 Multi Floor is a safe punt!

  • Bagless Vacuum
  • Powerful suction from Vortex technology
  • HEPA AirClean Filtration
  • Automatic filter cleaning
  • Ideal for bare floors such as hardwood and porcelain tiles
  • Not lightweight
  • Struggles a bit to pick up pet hair
  • The limited capacity of the dust canister

Best Miele Robot Vacuum: Miele Scout RX2

Best Robot Vacuum Cleaner

Miele Scout RX2

Miele Scout RX2

With edge cleaning brushes and aesthetic design, Miele’s Scout RX2 uses excellent mapping to reach places that most robotic vacuums cannot.

Coming with an incredible 3D mapping software, this robotic vacuum can scan the entire room for obstacles before it starts to clean.

Quattro cleaning power gives this robot vacuum excellent suction power, with suction coming from the front and back for comprehensive dust pickup.

A Carpet Boost function allows the Scout RX2 to know exactly when it is over the carpet and adjust suction power accordingly.

The bristles on the edges of this robot will make sure that dust piled around walls are not ignored.

One issue we did notice with the RX2, on the highest suction mode, is that it can be a little on the noisy side!

The Scout RX2 is an obedient cleaner, which can be controlled and redirected right from your smartphone.

It is also a silky smooth navigator, seamlessly working its way around all kinds of furniture and obstacles.

The presence of a stereo camera system, multiple infrared sensors as well as a gyro sensor help in this regard.

With a more-than-decent 60 minutes of battery running time, the Scout RX2 will find its way back to the charging station when it is running low.

The dust canister capacity of only about 0.5 litres is a little concerning, although it is the standard size we see in most robotic vacuums.

For all of the cutting edge mapping features it packs, combined with the excellent suction, the Scout RX2 will be a significant investment for most Aussie homes.

  • Slim, attractive design
  • Edge bristles will make sure that walls are not forgotten
  • Automatically adjusts suction power when moving to carpeted surfaces
  • Decent battery life of up to an hour
  • Self-recharging
  • Avoids obstacles because of excellent sensors
  • Excellent 3D mapping tech allows the RX2 to clean efficiently
  • A little noisy on Carpet Boost mode
  • Limited dust canister capacity
  • Costly investment

Best Miele Barrel Vacuum: Miele Blizzard CX1 Cat and Dog

Best Barrel Vacuum

Miele Blizzard CX1

Miele Blizzard CX1 Cat and Dog

With one of the best pet hair pickup performance we have seen, this versatile bagless vacuum from Miele has top-notch filtration.

While the Blizzard CX1 Multi Floor finds a place in our list, the Blizzard CX1 Cat and Dog does one thing obviously much better - picking up delicate pet fur.

A specially engineered Cat and Dog TurboTeq floor head will dig deep into carpet fibres and remove stubbornly entangled pet hair.

This bagless vacuum comes with HEPA AirClean filtration, ensuring that even microscopic pet dander is effortlessly captured.

HEPA filtration can capture 99.97% of all allergen, up to 0.3 microns in size - making it one of the best filtration systems ever.

Vortex technology makes a comeback in this Blizzard CX1 model, generating enough wind speed that makes us understand why this vacuum has the Blizzard name.

Miele claims that suction power is created by catalyzing wind speeds of up to 100 km/hour!

The ComfortClean technology is a great addition to the Miele CX1 Blizzard range.

The tech will automatically sense when your filter needs cleaning and give it an automatic scrubbing in about 20 seconds!

While a bagless design is convenient, homes with a lot of pets will find the 2 litres of dustbin capacity to be a hindrance.

The CX1 range is not suitable for portable cleaning as it weighs over 8.5 kilos.

While a 7.5-metre power cord isn’t short by any measure, we think Miele could have added a few extra metres!

With the excellent pet turbo brush tool and excellent suction stemming from Vortex technology, the CX1 Blizzard Cat and Dog may be exactly what pet owners have been missing!

  • Bagless design
  • Vortex technology generates superb suction
  • Comprehensive HEPA filters
  • ComfortClean tech will auto clean filters
  • Pet hair attachment will make easy work out of delicate pet fur
  • The dustbin has limited capacity of about 2 litres
  • At 8.5 kilos, this vacuum is not lightweight

Best Miele Budget Vacuum: Miele Complete C3 Comfort

Best Budget Vacuum Cleaner

Miele C3 comfort

Miele Complete C3 Comfort

With one of the best cleaning radii around, this versatile  bagged vacuum is great on different floor types and a true all-rounder.

We’ve mentioned how good the C3 Cat and Dog vacuum is, but we couldn’t ignore how good the Complete C3 Comfort is!

Because of the host of accessories included, this may just be one of the best cylinder vacuums around!

In all of our tests, on different floor types, this vacuum did extremely well in picking up dust.

With 2,000 watts of power coursing through its veins, it is no surprise that the suction works so admirably.

Beyond an upholstery nozzle, crevice nozzle and dusting brush, there is also a Parquet Brush Twister, Turbobrush and Mini Turbobrush.

Those Turbobrush accessories make pet hair pickup a charm!

We were highly impressed by the cleaning radius of this vacuum, providing up to 11 metres of range on a swivel!

Also, this C3 model comes with Miele's trademark HEPA AirClean filtration technology.

Truly lives up to its name of being a comfortable device!

  • Excellent cleaning radius
  • Bagged vacuum
  • Powerful suction
  • Range of ideal accessories
  • Expensive

The History of Miele

Over 120 years ago, in the Northern German town of Herzebrock, Carl Miele owned a hardware store which was facing tough times as his business partner had abruptly left after four years.

A travelling salesman called Reinhard Zinkann came in one day to sell something to Carl Miele.

The two men struck up a friendship which would blossom into a business partnership based on a simple premise - Carl Miele would handle production while Reinhard Zinkann would be in charge of selling.

The company Miele was born.

Initially founded to sell milk centrifuges, the company really made itself a household name by building washing machines at the turn of the 20th century.

In about 30 years, the company began producing vacuum cleaners and were clearly at the forefront of European innovation.

In fact, the first dishwasher in Europe was made by Miele.

Over a century later, the company is still owned by the families of Carl Miele and Reinhard Zinkann.

Our Verdict on Miele

All things considered, Miele is a top-quality vacuum cleaner manufacturer.

When it comes to cylinder vacuums, however, their expertise is quite frankly unparalleled in the Australian market.

All of the vacuums in our best Miele vacuum reviews were graceful, powerful and reliable.

Because of those reasons, despite the price tag on show, Miele vacuums are extremely good value for the money you are spending.

The  Scout RX2 is a great option for if you were interested in a robot vacuum that is packed with high-tech features.

The Complete C3 Cat and Dog vacuum is one of the best pet vacuums we have reviewed - period.

Don’t worry about missing out when going for a cheaper Miele model either, as even they provide excellent suction power.
